Fearful, incredibly clumsy, and easily frightened by horses, Demetrio Garcia should never have ended up as a sergeant in the army. Terrorized by Captain Monasterio, Sergent Garcia is torn between his sense of duty and his good heart. He executes the orders he’s given but without enjoying it, he often feels compassion for the poor people suffering under his authority.
Thankfully for Zorro, Sergeant Garcia is rather clumsy, unlucky and easily distracted by the prospect of a good meal or a cold drink.
Garcia is in love with Dona Maria though she has made it clear that his attempts are hopeless. He tries by every means to copy Don Diego, who is successful with women, even if he thinks that Diego is not fit for a caballero.
